- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2017Purchased for $180.00 during the Holiday 2016 sales as a X-Mas gift for my kid. Overall, this is a fantastic simple laptop for any user, especially great for young students.
Pros:
-The screen, though not super high resolution (vertical pixel count of 768), is vivid and bright, contrast is superb and even though it's relative small at 11.6" great for light browsing and YouTube viewing.
-Usability: it's light at under 3 lbs., auto-sleeps when the lid is closed, wakes up immediately upon opening it, it has two and three finger gesture recognition for things like scrolling, going from browser tab to tab, and right clicking.
-Battery life: with varied, average usage the battery will last between 8 to 10 hours (which is also dependent on your brightness setting - at around 35% brightness the screen is great to look at under most interior lighting conditions, and great for long battery life)
-OS: I found the simplified and uncluttered Chrome OS to be a blessing for a light weight computing device like this one. You have none of the overhead of the usual bloat you find in the fully fledged OSs. This is a responsive, specific, modern computer that would suit most casual needs for many types of users
-Build quality: the shell uses a durable, light weight plastic, even though it's just plastic it feels sturdy and strong (it's drop-safe from 3' high)
Cons:
-Google Docs app feels just slightly unresponsive, like there's a fraction of a second delay in the way you would navigate through a document editing, for instance. It just doesn't have the snappiness you would hope for. This may be a software issue that Google needs to work out in order to make their apps work better on lower-powered PCs
-Inability to make custom keyboard shortcuts - I use the Home and End keys a lot on my Windows machines, I wish Google would provide a way to make custom shortcuts on their OS
At around $200 and under, this is a solid computer that will meet the needs of any casual user. These days most computing tasks are accomplished on the browser, and the apps are becoming more and more optimized for such usage. I love the simplicity of this machine and its utility.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2017Great laptop for Chrome apps. Near instant on, software updates are mostly transparent, nice touchscreen, plenty fast, easy to configure, well priced, light weight, 10+ hour battery life,
If you can live with apps that run under Chrome my experience indicates then you will like this machine a lot. It meets all the needs of my wife, but I am a heavy Excel user so I keep Windows machines too. Still, I find myself picking this one up first when I just need to read email or make a quick update via a Google app.
If it had LTE I might use it as a primary device and go back to a candy bar phone.
UPDATE 18aug2017 I still love this machine and now have two of them so my wife and I can both use one. I use it 90% of the time and my Windows machines about 10% right now. The Microsoft web apps are good enough for quick updates to existing documents, but I still use the desktop versions for deeper work. I also run one Windows app that has no web version at all. That said I am dropping a excellent Windows app (Mind Manager) in favor of a similar web app (Mindomo) just because it runs on the Chromebook.
I do use it with LTE some now. I bought a small hotspot and sometimes use the Chromebook/hotspot combo when I am away from WiFi and don't want to deal with a phone keyboard.
HOWEVER, even though these are stellar machines all is not well in LenovoLand so I have changed my rating to 4 stars vs. 5. One of my two N22 Touch machines has developed an intermittent problem with the T and Y and left Ctrl and perhaps other keys. I was unable to contact Lenovo support but will try again. The web says this is a common problem fixed by rerouting a keyboard cable. Please note that the problem is intermttent - I used the machine with the problem to write this note - but it still needs fixing. I will give Lenovo a chance to fix it before opening the case myself. Either way, I will try to remember to update this entry when I have it fixed.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2018The chromebook worked fine for about a year but than after that some of the keys on keyboard were not working at all. So it definately gave me hard time, I had to set up the keyboard on screen to use for some of the keys that were not working. It was so annoying to open the keyboard on screen and use it all the time.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2018Initially I thought this was a great affordable purchase. It was only LIGHTLY used and stopped working completely at 7 months! It's worthless now. :(
- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2017Last year we bought the Asus touchscreen chrome book for our teens and loved them. I decided to try the Lenovo touchscreen for me this year. Very disappointing... price was good but don't bother as the overall quality on every feature just didn't compare. I retuned this and bought the Asia for $30 more.... best move and I love it!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2017Lenovo Chromebook N22 11.6" Notebook, IPS Touchscreen, Intel N3060 Dual-Core, 16GB eMMC SSD, 4GB DDR3, 802.11ac, Bluetooth, ChromeOS This Chromebook is awesome. It has 4G of memory and a touch screen that works great. It feels zippy and the build in webcam can be rotated backwards for privacy. The screen is IPS and is sharp and clear. It has 2 USB 3.0 ports, card reader, and 802.11ac wifi. I bought two of these and while the product description says up to 10hrs of battery life, I left it unplugged for two days and both days I watched tons of netflix movies and the battery status still showed over 3/4 full, so 10 hours seems rather low to me. With the amounts of heavy use that I put these through, It never got warm to the touch and there doesn't appear to be any need for a fan.
If you are looking for a good rugged Chromebook, this is it!! I really can't find any downsides to this product. While it doesn't yet support android apps, It is on the list of supported Chromebooks to become compatible in the near future to include the android play store.
