    Construction hiring booming and many available jobs

    One of the brightest spots in recent employment reports has been construction hiring.

    Employers added a net new 23,000 construction jobs in September, the Labor Department said Friday, and the number of people working in the industry was 315,000 higher compared to a year earlier.

    But there are still construction jobs open – and the pay and perks aren’t bad. At the end of July, there were 273,000 open construction jobs, according to a separate Labor Department report.

    Manufacturing confidence all time high

    Optimism among U.S. manufacturers is soaring as the Republican-led tax cuts help fuel a white-hot economy with the lowest unemployment numbers in over a decade, but a significant labor shortage is undermining the gains, a new report shows.

    Nearly 93 percent of manufacturers are projecting further expansion for their businesses, and positive sentiment among smaller companies is up to 91.3 percent, according to a quarterly survey from the National Association of Manufacturers. It's one of the best outlooks the group has seen in the 20 years it has conducted the survey among its 14,000 members.

    Justice Kavanaugh SWORN IN to Supreme Court

    Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and former Justice Anthony Kennedy swore Brett Kavanaugh in as an associate justice to the Supreme Court in a private ceremony Saturday evening only hours after the Senate confirmed him in a 50-48 vote.

    The ceremony is the culmination of an acrimonious process that heightened partisanship on the Hill to new levels ever since Kennedy, the court’s swing vote, announced his retirement in June.

    It also delivers a significant win for President Trump.

    Govt Cuts 1000 Jobs in Month Down 16000 Under Trump

    (CNSNews.com) - The number of people employed by the federal government declined by 1,000 in September, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

    Some financial information for everyone;
    First, revenue from income tax;
    [IMG]
    Note that until 2015 the portion of taxes from individuals was increasing while corporate tax was stagnate or slightly decreasing. After 2017 corporate tax revenues decreased while individual taxes increased and made up the difference.

    And here is the budget for 2017
    [IMG]
    Pensions refers to Social Security and Government pensions. Veterans benefits are included in Defense. A key thing to remember is that while Social Security expenses are included in this budget, revenue from the employer/employee contributions is not included in the revenue chart above.

    Now; Shooter is sure that at least one poster will take exception to something here, so he is also including the link where one can make up their own charts;

    Enjoy

    Interesting that your information shows individual tax payers having to make up the difference for revenues lost to corporate tax cuts. I'm sure most people are happy to help fill those corporate coffers with tax savings. I wonder if the corporations will make up the difference to their employees with bonuses... nah.

    And likewise interesting that you pointed out the cost of social security without noting that it is paid for by a deduction that is a seperate and supposedly dedicated funding means but that people like Rand Paul, Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell want to pillage to make up for the trillions in tax cuts for the wealthy they signed into law without bothering to fund any other way.

    So, first of all, Shooter did not post these charts to make a particular point, other than GROSS individual tax revenues have increased while GROSS corporate tax revenues have decreased. The why behind these changes is up to individuals to find, according to their beliefs.
    Second, Shooter did point out that while Social Security costs are included in the expense chart, the revenues that employers/employees pay are not reflected in the revenue chart. Try to pay attention.

    And finally, you need to provide facts to support your position that Rand Paul, Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell want to pillage Social Security revenue.

    The facts Shooter has uncovered are that;
    1) President Trump said, on the campaign trail, that Social Security benefits were not going to be cut if he was elected, and in fact he has maintained that position since he was elected. His belief is that any financial problems with Social Security can be fixed with a healthy economy and perhaps removing the cap on Social Security taxes. The Republicans have echoed his statements.
    2) Trump has backed up his statements with action; In April he signed the Strengthening Protections for Social Security Beneficiaries Act of 2018, or H.R. 4547. This bill was unanimously passed by Congress after the Government Accounting Office reported that Social Security representatives were taking advantage of some recipients to benefit themselves.
    https://www.disabilityscoop.com/2018/04/17/trump-protections-social-security/24983/
    3) No Republican sponsored legislation has passed that would "pillage" Social Security.
    4) Following is a link so you can track, yourself, legislation relating to Social Security (or any other subject) from submission to final status.
    https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bi...ty&terms=6328&congress=__ALL__&terms2=__ALL__

    You need to do your own research and stop repeating the despicable (and deplorable) talking points.

      Then we could go with Rand Paul's ideas about Social Security:

      Now see, we can discuss this.
      Let's start with paul Ryan's defense of privaizing social security.
      The basic idea is to move the almost 13% of payroll that goes to social security for our retirement and let US, not the government decide how to invest it. Shooter knows just looking at his own situation, if he had invested his social security tax as he did his own 401(k) he would have 60% more in retirement.
      You see, rather than government deciding when, and how much we get of our own money, we decide.
      Plus, we cut government workforce size. All good. Things.

      The idea of privatization is to move that money into the hands of the same people that caused the banking meltdown of 2008. They want to play in that money pool and make their brokerage fees. Don't pretend it's for any other reason. And if they lose it like they lost trillions in their last screw up they will expect taxpayers - i.e. the people who's money they just lost - to make good on their foul up just like we did the last time. No thanks, Trumpboy.

      So you don't think those investments can be protected?
      Even with the 2008 meltdown shooters portfolio bounced back stronger than ever.
      And with safeguards the entire pension system would be stronger than it is now.
      Plus, it would keep the robbers in congress from getting their fingers on it, which you might recall was in your first post.
      And what's the problem with brokerage fees again?
      So, looking forward to your further thoughts, minus the insults.

    Did you ever think...more folks are working today than there just a measily 2 years ago?, so yes there will be more individual tax payers/higher taxes paid in shootersa graph.

    Which does nothing to change the fact that corporate taxes and therefore revenue from those taxes is down by @shootersa's graph, and so must be made up elsewhere. Unless, of course, you were to cut spending on military as well as everyone else.. nah. You won't go there.

    And if you are going to count costs of Social Security in the budget you damn well ought to count the income from the taxes paid on it, or you are just another liar figuring.

    1. shootersa
      Tell ya what mouth, why don't you go to that web site shooter posted and do your own chart, instead of bitching about the one posted.
      Or, do you just like bitching, or is it that you can't make a chart?

      It's not bitching to point out that you are being disingenuous when you post Social Security as a part of budgetary costs while failing to post the offsetting revenues from FICA payments. Maybe you should either work on presenting more complete information with less cherry picking or avoid such transparently partisan postings.

    Listen up, business DOES NOT pay tax, that cost gets passed on to the consumer, that means you and I pay that tax for them when we use the service or goods that they supply as a business....something that not many are capable of understanding...so what's your problem with lowering corporate business tax?

    Many dont pay taxes on SS received, so, I have no idea what your wanting to squabble about on that.

    1. imported__2355
      Pul-leez. Reduced corporate taxes would not automatically translate into reduced consumer prices. The trickle-down theory was proven false in actual use during the Reagan administration. Corporations don't pass on tax savings, they off shore them in Cayman island bank accounts.

      imported__2355, Oct 10, 2018

      And I was not referring to taxes on ss benefits, I was talking about FISA tax payments that support those benefits.

    The trouble with the Trump never ending campaign is he still thinks the majority of Americans are as stupid as he is. And even the ones who voted for him aren't that stupid. And this time he put it in writing.

    Melania Trump to Survivors of Sexual Assault: Don't Report Unless You Have Evidence

    Melania Trump sat down with ABC World News Tonight for an interview that will air on Friday, during which she discussed the #MeToo movement and sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh, who was confirmed to the Supreme Court on Saturday.

    Trump was away on a trip to Kenya last week as Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing took place. In the clip of Trump’s interview with ABC News anchor Tom Llamas, the first lady made her position on reporting sexual assault loud and clear to survivors.

    “You need to have really hard evidence, that, you know, if you accuse of something, show the evidence,” Trump said. She added that she supports women, and also men. “I do stand with women, but we need to show the evidence. You cannot just say to somebody, you know, ‘I was sexually assaulted’ or ‘You did that to me,’ because sometimes the media goes too far and the way they portray some stories, it’s not correct, it’s not right.”

    It’s perfectly telling that women are now telling their stories and the first thing your president does is call this a dangerous time for men.

    Girls are being assaulted, but we must protect the boys.

    If President Obama had ever started making public statements trying to manipulate Federal Reserve policies the so called "conservatives" would be freaking out. Which is how we know there is no such thing as a "conservative" because they never really believe what they say in the first place and change what they say depending on who is president.

    But anyway how is Trump's stock market going today?

    This is the second day in a row I have asked that question and for some reason can't seem to get an answer.
