Totally! In no way am I singling you out. In fact, I read Book 1 of your 50+epilogue saga and I enjoyed it. I'll prolly read another chapter before I go to bed.

As per the RL/Fantasy division, it just seems to me that incest alone is more than sufficient to cross that line - but, you know, whatever. There's not a lot of societies - across all cultural, historical, religious backgrounds - that condone incest. The Hapburgs were really an oddity. Even that tribe of cannibals in New Guinea that don't believe the outside world exists, doesn't practice incest.

 

I won't be offended if you don't finish it; Part 1 is quite tame compared to the rest. Part 2 really turns up the heat on the incest parts. Since that's not your thing, you might not like it. Either way, I'd love to read your comments, positive or negative.

Yes, the world of my stories is definitely unrealistic. I won't argue with you there. And I suppose at some point you have to say, enough is enough! Why is everybody jumping into bed with their brothers/sisters/fathers/sons/mothers/daughters/aunts/uncles/nieces/nephews/pet hamsters? (okay, that last one is a little extreme even for me)

I guess it just comes down to personal preference. Like you mentioned, it's a willing suspension of disbelief, and different people are willing to suspend disbelief of different things. I, for example, agree with the previously-mentioned example of the rape victim who ends up enjoying it. It works the first two or three times I read it, but it gets old really quickly. Although, I have to say, if it becomes a turning point in the plot or otherwise drives the rest of the story, I don't have a problem with it. As I mentioned in another thread, a good author can break the rules and get away with it.

I'm starting to ramble, which means it must be getting close to my bedtime. So I'll stop here.

 

Don't see any problem with incest stories... THEY ARE STORIES! its like reading rape stories or torture stories bestiality... the particular proclivity might light your fire but it doesn't mean that you have the lack of willpower to not partake from activities that for the most part are illegal in most places.
This argument would make someone think that Nothing would take peter pan as a true story...
