Wrestlers walk away with medals from tournament

The event, which attracted over 500 wrestlers from across the country, was hosted at the Gauteng North Wrestling Hall in Menlo Park in Pretoria East, due to a lack of a big venue in Ekurhuleni.

The Benoni Wrestling Club grapplers Nico Zanberg and Joshua Collins displayed immense talent when they claimed medals during the Ekurhuleni Wrestling Association Open in Pretoria on February 22.

The event, which attracted over 500 wrestlers from across the country, was hosted at the Gauteng North Wrestling Hall in Menlo Park in Pretoria East, due to a lack of a big venue in Ekurhuleni.

Zanberg took a gold in the U17 freestyle while Collins was a runner-up in the U15 freestyle.

The BWC chief instructor Hansie Naudè is inviting youngsters interested in wrestling to join. He also called on veteran wrestlers to come and help the club grow.

“We are looking for coaches and more wrestlers from the age of five and novices without any prior wrestling experience. We also call on veteran wrestlers who would like to join our club,” said Naudè.
