A Britney Spears biopic is officially in the works.

Universal Pictures announced Aug. 1 that it secured the rights to the pop star's bestselling 2023 memoir The Woman in Me after a "highly competitive auction," according to a press release.

Wicked director Jon M. Chu is set to direct and Marc Platt will produce. No casting announcements have been revealed yet.

Spears, 42, wrote on X Aug. 1, "Excited to share with my fans that I've been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt. He’s always made my favorite movies … stay tuned."

The "Toxic" singer's first-ever memoir, which was published on Oct. 24, 2023, covers everything from her rise to fame, her conservatorship experience, her past relationships and more.

Michelle Williams narrated the audiobook edition of The Woman in Me, while Spears recorded an introduction for it.

"This book has been a labor of love and all the emotions that come with it,” Spears previously said in a statement. "Reliving everything has been exciting, heart-wrenching, and emotional, to say the least. For those reasons, I will only be reading a small part of my audiobook."
